Getting public safety back to work and keeping them on the job

A MESSAGE FROM LEADERSHIP

Why It Matters

Public safety is people. The ones who answer the call, the ones who treat them when they’re hurt, and the ones whose decisions shape how fast they get care. Behind every one of them is a family. Heart disease, cancer and suicide take more of their lives each year than line of duty incidents ever will, and much of it is preventable.

When one of them falls through the cracks, the family feels it first. Then the people they work beside. Then the community they serve. We’re here to get people back to work and keep them on the job, and we can’t do it alone.

Be part of the solution. Let’s talk about where you fit.

What’s at Stake

Seven conditions feed each other: heart disease, cancer and suicide, and the four most costly epidemics, substance dependence, brain injuries, chronic pain and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They hit the same walls: utilization review, delays in authorization and care, and care that isn’t connected. A treatable injury turns chronic. Someone who should be back on shift is at home getting worse, and the family carries it. None of that is the price of the job. It’s what happens when nobody built the system to work together.

What Works

San Diego built it differently. One point of contact between the agency and the claims administrator. One trusted medical partner both sides rely on. Utilization review on a fast track. A fund that pays for treatment right at the point of injury. Over ten years the injury rate per full time employee came down 8 points while the department added staff, and in the City of San Diego model, 94% of the people who completed its PTSD Intensive Outpatient Program returned to full duty. That isn’t luck. It’s structure, and structure can be repeated.

What Your Partnership Makes Possible

Most agencies that want this can’t get it started on their own. That’s where you come in. Your partnership puts in place:

Implementation tools in people’s hands

The open door for agencies that can’t cover the cost

Then we work beside the agency to find where people are falling through and fix it.

What You Can Expect

We fit the partnership to you: timing, length and the recognition that goes with it. You’re acknowledged as a supporter of the work, and we report back in plain terms: agencies engaged, barriers removed, people getting care sooner, people back on the job. Partnerships are sized to the organization and its timing, and we settle the range in a direct conversation.

The Boundaries That Protect You

Independence, integrity and system alignment. The Alliance stays independent: partners don’t shape curriculum, findings or recommendations, and partnership never implies endorsement of a product or service. That protects your name and ours. The full governance framework is available on request.
